Welcome to Niche Motors

As a small, boutique car dealership, we specialize in both the sale and service of ‘Niche’ vehicles. Our unique approach involves a dedicated team of brokers, each hand-picking and managing their inventory ranging from Porsches, air-cooled Volkswagens, vintage 4x4’s, convertibles, American-classics, motorcycles, you name it.

At Niche Motors, we go beyond the transaction, prioritizing relationships and ensuring a memorable experience for every automotive enthusiast.

Below is the story about our founder Evan and how we got started.

EVERY KID PLAYS WITH CARS, RIGHT?

Well, I was no different; accept for the fact that by the age of 5 I could tell you the make and model of every hot wheels and matchbox in my room. As I got older, my passion for cars continued to grow. When I was 15 I remember riding my bike past an old 69’ Mercedes 250 sedan with a “For Sale” sign in it. At the time, my parents were looking for a car for my older sister so I sold them on the idea of purchasing the car for her. I was pretty sure that she wouldn’t be thrilled about the idea of driving this old rusty car, but I most definitely was. My parents bought the car, my sister cried, and the car was all mine.

A couple years later I got hired at the local Volkswagen dealership as a lot attendant then service porter, and eventually a lube technician. When I wasn’t at work or school, a friend and I bought and sold cars on craigslist and ebay to help pay our tuition at Middle Tennessee State University. I would troll craigslist all day looking for air cooled VWs, 80’s BMW’s, or anything else foreign and funky that piqued my interest.

When I came across something I liked that was a good deal, my friend would put up the money, and we would buy it. We detailed them at our parent’s houses and then list them on various enthusiast websites. Not only was it a great way to help pay for college, but it was also a great distraction from school.

My major at MTSU was in Entrepreneurship and my final business class required the creation and proposal of a complete business plan before a panel of local bankers. Naturally I took what my friend and I had already been doing, and developed it into a legitimate business model. I got an “A” on the project and graduated with a Bachelor’s in Business December 2008.

Shortly after I graduated I went up to Jaguar Porsche Audi of Nashville looking for a job in the service department. They didn’t have any openings, but I was offered a job in sales, which I accepted. My passion for cars quickly took me to the top and was salesman of the year my first two years at JPA Nashville. The following year I competed in an Audi product knowledge competition. I won the dealership, regional, and finally the national competition in 2011, which was held at Audi of America’s headquarters in Herndon, Virginia.

After 2 years of sales, I was given the opportunity to be the Used Car Sales Manager at JPA. I gained a lot of experience in that position, but the higher I climbed the corporate ladder the more I realized I was getting away from what I truly enjoyed….the cars. JPA and I parted company and I started brokering under a small dealership buying and selling cars and motorcycles that interest me. I quickly realized that I was ready to finally start a dealership of my own.

They say that if you enjoy what you do, you never work a day in your life. If that’s the case, then consider this my early retirement. My whole life has prepared me for this, and I can’t wait to see what the future holds. - October 2013

5 Years In

A little over 5 years ago we opened our doors and I’m so grateful for how far we’ve come!

Sales have been up every year and we’ve learned so much. We added a handful of brokers to the team in the last few years. Most of the guys I’ve know for a long time and they all have their own special niche that they work in. Collectively we have an extremely well rounded group of guys who all strive to offer a top notch sales experience with every customer.

From the very beginning I had a vision of what I thought the business would look like, and I can say I never imagined it would look like this.

Two years ago I got the opportunity to hire a good friend of mine, Bret Miles, and start offering automotive repair services. Bret has worked for both VW and Audi dealerships here in the Nashville area and is easily one of the most talented technicians in Middle Tennessee. We are extremely fortunate to have him running our shop. Check back soon to read his story on our Technicians page.

With sales and service now going strong, things are really starting to take shape. Our vision for the next five years is to continue to grow the service department as well as increase sales.

A big goal of mine is to purchase a commercial property and start planting some long term roots for the business. Looking back at the last 5-years is very humbling and I don’t take a day for granted.

I’m still excited to do what I love every day and eager to see what is in store for the next chapter of Niche Motors. - August 2019

10 Years In

On April 15th, 2014 we moved into our Brentwood shop. Exactly 10 years later we are thrilled to be moving to our forever home in Bon Aqua, TN. Paula and I knew that we didn't want to live in Brentwood forever, so after we moved our family to Leipers Fork, TN over 2 years ago, we could finally start hunting for the perfect future location of Niche Motors.

I'm sure many of you reading this are thinking the same thing, "Where is Bon Aqua, TN?" Well, it's right off of I-840 at Highway 100 about 8 miles south of I-40. It's near the edge of Fairview, TN and just outside Williamson County in Hickman County. Being further from Nashville allowed us to purchase a much larger facility while still having easy access to Thompson Station, Franklin, Dickson, and Fairview.

We’re excited to grow and offer more services to our customers at the new shop. We also believe this location will allow us to be more involved in both the local community as well as the car community.

After 10 years, it feels like the journey has just begun again!
